Morning departure to Tunis, visit the Medina, a maze of ancient narrow alleyways housing palaces, mosques, medersas and souks. Visit the Bardo Museum, famous for its magnificent collection of artifacts and unrivalled collection of Roman mosaics. Continue to Carthage, scattered ruins are all that remain of one of the most powerful cities of the ancient world. Travel to Sidi Bou Said, a charming town just northeast of Tunis. The view from the main promenade over the gulf is truly breathtaking. The whitewashed houses with their blue doors and shutters create a unique atmosphere.

FRI: HAMMAMET - BON CAP - HAMMAMET
Just up the coast from Hammamet, Nabeul is known for its beautiful beaches, busy markets and wonderful ceramics. Visit the ceramic and pottery workshop with time free to explore Nabeul’s large medina, with its complex network of narrow streets, gates and alleyways. Friday is market day. Visit the stonemasons in Daar Chaabane and a weaving co-operative in Beni Khiar. Continue to Kelibia; time to explore the huge Phoenician-Byzantine Fortress on your own. Proceed to the Punic-Phoenician town of Kerkouane. Travel to El-Haouaria and visit the huge caves of Gar el Kebir. Stop at Bacchus Palace Vineyard and taste the Tunisian wine.

SAT: HAMMAMET
A pleasant half day Pirate Ship cruise around the coast of Hammamet. Depart from Yasmine Marina and sail towards the Fort of Hammamet. Some time for swimming and traditional style fishing. Enjoy a barbeque lunch before returning to the Marina. Afternoon at leisure.

SUN: HAMMAMET
Explore Tunis, Cap Bon Peninsula or Hammamet on your own. Evening folklore show at Sahara City with Tunisian cuisine and unlimited wine. Belly dancers, snake charmers, jugglers and fire-eaters will entertain you.

MON: HAMMAMET - El JEM - MATMATA - DOUZ
Depart for El Jem, known in Roman times as Thysdrus. Visit the Amphitheatre, which is similar to the Colosseum in Rome and is the most imposing of the Roman monuments in Africa. Continue to the Berber Village of Matmata and visit the troglodyte caves, famous as the setting of the “Star Wars” movie. Afternoon arrival in Douz. Optional camel ride on the dunes of the Sahara available.

TUE: DOUZ - TOZEUR - CHOTT EL JERID - METLAOUI - SELJA GORGES - GAFSA - KAIROUAN - HAMMAMET
Depart Douz; travel to Tozeur and cross Chott el-Jerid, the largest salt-water lake in North Africa. Drive to Metlaoui and board the ‘Old Bey’s’ train, now called the ‘Red Lizard’. Prepare to be enthralled on a spectacular two-hour rail journey through the Gorges of Selja, with photo stops at the most scenic spots. Lunch in Gafsa. Continue to Kairouan and visit a carpet shop. Return to Hammamet early evening.
