DAY 1: OSLO – FLÅM
Depart Oslo by train and cross the rugged Hardangervidda Mountain Plateau. Change train at Myrdal and enter the famous Flåm Railway. This railway has been ranked as one of the top 20 train rides in the world and is one of the world's steepest railway lines on normal gauge. The twisting tunnels that spiral in and out of the mountain are manifestations of the most daring and skilful engineering in Norwegian railway history. On the 20km train ride, see rivers that cut through deep ravines, waterfalls cascade down the side of steep, snow-capped mountains and mountain farms that cling to sheer slopes. Arrive Flåm, beautifully situated at the end of the Aurlandsfjord. The Norwegian fjord landscape is considered to be one of the most spectacular sceneries in the world.
Overnight: Flåm
DAY 2: FLÅM – BERGEN
Depart Flåm by fjord ferry. Cruise through the Nærøyfjord, considered to be among the most scenically outstanding fjord areas in the world, and is included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Arrive in Gudvangen and take the bus to Voss. (The bus does not run on a Saturday). Thereafter take the train from Voss to Bergen. Evening arrival in Bergen.
Overnight: Bergen (B)
DAY 3: BERGEN
Due to its location, Bergen is often called “the Gateway to the Fjords”. Day at leisure, we suggest a stroll in the Hanseatic quarters and around the popular fish- and flower-market. Take the funicular up to Mount Fløyen and enjoy wonderful view of Bergen and its surroundings.
Overnight: Bergen (B)
DAY 4: BERGEN – OSLO
Depart Bergen by train and travel through a breathtaking landscape with a constantly changing panorama of sky-high mountains, thundering waterfalls and green pastures at the bottom of the valleys. Afternoon arrival in Oslo. Balance of day at leisure. Explore the main street, Karl Johans Gate which leads past shops and hotels, parks and monuments to the Royal Palace.
Overnight: Oslo (B)
DAY 5: OSLO
Make your way to the airport for departure, or continue your journey through Scandinavia. (B)
