Nile Cruise :: Dahabiya (River Houseboat)

Nile Cruise :: Dahabiya (River Houseboat)

Departs Saturday.

River houseboats (Dahabiyas) were common in Egypt in the days of the monarchy when aristocrats loved to cruise the Nile in style. They rented the boats for weeks at a time and made their way from temple to temple enjoying the river breeze.

Many visitors travel to Egypt expressly to fulfil their dream of sailing on the Nile.  We invite you to experience a deluxe traditional two-masted houseboat with comfortable and stylish accommodation.  This is a unique river journey, which seeks to re-introduce the style of a bygone era to cruising the Nile.

Not only do you have the opportunity to discover the great monuments of ancient Egypt that line this legendary river, but we offer you an intimate Nile experience with visits to local villages, Nile Islands and traditional markets.

... The perfect combination of history and culture with time to relax and unwind as you sail downriver at a sedate pace.

An Eco-friendly product
The main advantage of travelling on a Dahabiya is that you will be in a small group minimising crowding and waste production.  The Dahabiyas also tie up at “private docks” along the Nile banks. There is no motor on board hence no fume and air pollution issues associated with the larger Nile Cruisers. The Dahabiya is equipped with its own water purification system thereby minimising the consumption of plastic water bottles and does not discharge waste into the river.  All linen, towelling and toiletries are organic.
